3rd Lair King of the Groms -- after a couple flight delays we finally got to Minnesota. Laura picked us up at the airport. Laura and Jesse took us out to eat at Hong Kong Noodles. We are getting ready for the competition today. It is STIFF. There are 40 competitors in the Micah's first competition - Intermediate Bowl. The sheet can be viewed here. I think I counted 156 total registrants from over 20 states.

2-18-07 Went to Ollie's. It was hopping. Morgan and DJ were tearing up the park. Micah finally started getting his frontside ollies. He snapped a bunch off in the little mini, the 6 foot halfpipe and the bowl.
2-19-07 After shoveling off the Woodland Park, Micah got some good runs in. We are real excited about flying out to the King of the Groms at Third Lair in Minneapolis, MN. It is advertised as the largest 12 and under skateboard competition in the world.

We had a lot of fun running down to 6th Avenue Skatepark in Nashville for the Young Guns 13 and under competition Sat. We left at 7:30am and returned at 11:30pm. We hooked up with Nick and Alex from Ollies. Nick won the 13 and under beginner and Alex took 1st in the advanced. They originally put Micah in the Novice 9 and under, but he got bumped up to the intermediate division.

He placed 3rd out of 15 and was probably the youngest intermediate contestant. After a whole day of skating at Sixth Avenue we went to Concrete Wave Country, hit the Waffle House then headed home.

Never again will there be such a perfect trip... Friday morning we departed. First stop Georgetown, KY - had the whole park to ourselves. It was sunny and nearing 60 degrees when we got to the new Dry Ridge Park. After that we went to Florence. Saw some young shredders from Toledo ollying a 4 foot trash can. We capped off the night with a late session at Evolution Skatepark in Canton. The next day we went to the Akron Park, then back to Evolution for the Spinezilla double miniramp competition. Micah Placed 2nd (behind Zach Krouth) in the younger division out of 20+ skaters. Kristian Svitek was one of the judges. After 5 hours of skating we hit the road getting home about 1am New Year's Eve Day. Thanks Harrison for helping us make this trip happen.
Click here to see a video of the roadtrip.
At the end of the vid is pro skater Doug Brown. Micah got to jam w/him in the mini. He's pretty sick. Click here to see go to Doug's site.

Took Micah to the new Dry Ridge, KY skatepark. Take 75 north, exit at Dry Ridge, veer right and the park is on the right at Piddle Park. It is built into a hill, has a fast snake run at the top, bench T like grind platforms, a bridge, mogul like bumbs in the horseshoe and a tight kidney shaped bowl. This park has speed lines everywhere.
